Planting Herbs


4th class have planted some herbs to brighten up the classroom after taking our Christmas decorations down. The herbs we chose from were parsley, mint, chives and coriander. Here are some pictures. We will keep you updated on the growth of our herbs and how we are looking after them.

STEAM projects

 4th class started the new year learning all about different types of renewable and non-renewable energy sources. They learnt new words like 'hydropower' and 'geothermal'. They also read the story of William Kamkwamba; 'The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind'. This story is available on YouTube if anyone would like to look at it again. The class were then given a Lego rescue mission. They had to construct a wind-turbine that would rescue their mini lego figurine using only the power of wind. They were given materials that they could use in order to complete this mission, such as milk cartons, skewers, corks and Lego. One point perspective art

Here are some samples of our one point perspective landscapes. These were done by creating a vanishing 'dot' in the centre of our pages. From this dot we drew out to divide our A3 pages in quarters. It looked like a big X on our page. In the top quarter we drew our sky/sun/rainbow/clouds, etc. In the left quarter many of us drew trees. In the right quarter most of us drew buildings. The bottom quarter became our road or river. We then painted our pictures the following week.

April is amazing!

We are really enjoying the month of April. The weather has gotten much better and we even got to eat our lunch as a picnic outside one day: On the 23rd of April we went to the library for an eco workshop as this week is eco week. We made 'seed bombs'. It was great fun!  We have also started to go swimming in the community centre.
